Before I will say anything
else, good luck to the President-Reelect Barack Obama. My several reservations
notwithstanding, I am glad that he won.
I was watching this election
night from the battleground state of my mind.
The optimist in me was fighting the skeptic. Would the result make any
difference? The optimist was hoping that it would.
Mr. Obama deserves a second
chance, even if he fails to use it, like he failed the first one. I may not
expect him to all of a sudden single-handedly triumph over everything objectionable
and obnoxious that Washington stands for, these days, but I expect him to try.
At least, this is the best
that I can expect from him on this night of his victory.
