[The reader is advised to kindly read my previous
pertinent postings on this blog: Russia
Day, posted on June 12th, 2012, and Away With Russia Day!, posted on June 12th, 2013.]
There are several honorable dates on the Russian
holiday calendar, which would each have merited to be declared Russia Day. Yet, like an obscene joke,
this sacred, but besmirched honor falls on the abominable perversion of June 12th,
the day celebrated since 1992, which symbolizes the effective fall of the USSR
and the establishment of Boris Yeltsin’s Robbers Paradise, that destroyed the
lives of at least two generations of people in Russia, and, for a while,
undermined the superpower might and international prestige of the great nation…
“Russia Day,” my foot! Honestly, I expected this
disgusting “holiday” to be decried and abolished back in the year 2000, when a
new era of Russia’s reemergence seemed to have dawned. No such luck!
Why?! Is it a case of national masochism? Or a
recognition that Russia still has a long way to go to get rid of the ugly inheritance
of the 1990’s?..
Whatever the case may be, I hope that next year June
12th will no longer be marked as a red date on the Russian calendar,
but deservedly remembered as Russia Night,
the day when the great serpent shed her skin, but had to wait until her new
young skin grew as bright and strong as in the best days of her historical glory.
Apparently, that time is not upon us yet, hence,
today’s celebration of the 12th of July, the day when the darling of
the free world Boris-Vodka-Yeltsin founded free Russia…”
